Law Professor Veronica Root Martinez on ‘More Meaningful Ethics’

Veronica Root Martinez

In prepping for our September 2020 Research Uncorked live event with Veronica Root Martinez, professor of law at Notre Dame, we had a chance to read an essay she recently published in The University of Chicago Law Review Online.

Titled “More Meaningful Ethics,” it explores how corporate compliance efforts are not the same thing as a company having a focus on ethics. As she writes in the introduction:

“This Essay contends that while we have grown to know much more about what is and is not necessary for the creation of an effective compliance program, it is time to think through the role of ethics within compliance efforts in a much more deliberate and meaningful manner.”

Considering Veronica is one of the country’s foremost experts on corporate compliance, her perspective on this issue is well worth the read.
